Diehard DC fans have just weeks to wait for Zack Snyder’s Justice League cut to drop.
The beloved US director has remade the disappointing 2017 film, which he stepped down from at the time due to personal reasons before Joss Whedon took over.
It was up there as one of the most expensive films ever made with a budget of $378 million, but it only managed to secure $831 million at the box office, and with the cost of marketing the film worldwide it didn’t break even.
To put that figure into perspective, its rival Marvel’s final 2019 Avengers film, Avengers: Endgame, made $3.54 billion at the box office against a $450 million budget, and became the highest grossing film of all time.
That precedent was set at the beginning, with its first film in 2012, The Avengers, raking in $1.89 billion against a $284 million budget.
But in a move that could possibly seeWarner Bros.bring in the big bucks it initially banked on, Snyder is finally bringing his own vision for the film to streaming, with Zack Snyder’s Justice League coming to BINGE and Foxtel on March 18, express from the US.
But returning for round two has cost the production company another staggering sum.

Snyder’s new Justice League reportedly cost about $88 million to remake, bringing the budget to more than twice the original number (it was reportedly supposed to cost about $40 million). And that’s not including marketing costs.
This is in part due to the big name cast of the original film returning for additional filming and reshoots with Snyder, which were shot late last year.
We assume the likes of Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Ray Fisher as Cyborg all would have renegotiated contracts for a new-look film.
While the storyline will mostly be the same as the 2017 movie, the film will look completely different thanks to the addition of deleted scenes, overhauled post-production editing, new music and reshoots.
It’s also expected to contain characters and plot lines that weren’t in the earlier release, including Jared Leto as the Joker.
Back in May, former head of HBO Max Bob Greenblatt told the Recode Media podcast the Snyder Cut was “complicated and wildly expensive”.
When host Peter Kafka pressed the HBO Max boss, dropping the numbers $20 and $30 million, Greenblatt replied, “Yeah, I’ll just say I wish it was just $30 million. I’ll stop there, but it’s an enormous undertaking and very complex.”
